Database Administrator - 6-months - £3-400 Outside - Remote
Parity Group Plc are excited to be partnered with a renowned public sector client of ours, who requires an experienced Database Administrator to join their team on an interim basis for a period of 6-months. The role is remote working for the foreseeable, however, travel to Edinburgh may be required in the future.
Requirement:
- Deliver RHEL8 Postgres build
- Deliver improved automated Postgres build and install
- Migrate the current MongoDB estate from 3.X to 4.4
- Capture replication lag in Postgres alerting
- Continued development and support of database platforms in line with the product and architecture roadmaps, including but not limited to:
o Ensuring appropriate access controls are in place, monitored and adhered to
o Managing, monitoring and improving the performance of databases to meet user needs
o Collaboratively assisting with the re-platforming/re-development of existing applications
o Conceptually designing new databases and database changes
o Collaboratively supporting Datamodelling activities
o Reviewing designs to meet system storage requirements
o Updating, installing and testing new versions and upgrades to databases
o Developing appropriate documentation and artefacts, eg data standards, local work instructions
o Developing, managing and testing back-up and recovery plans
o Ensuring storage and archiving procedures function correctly
o Planning capacity
o Troubleshooting and resolving database related issues
Essential Criteria:
Significant and demonstrable commercial experience in the following areas:
- Database security and tuning
- Postgres and associated extensions:
o repmgr
o pglogical
o Barman
o PostGIS
o pgbadger
o pgbouncer
Other database products, including.:
o MS SQL
o Informix
o Oracle
o MongoDB
- Large-scale data and database migration projects
- Data replication and high-availability technology
- Configuration and testing of disaster recovery procedures
- Database monitoring, using Telegraf, InfluxDB and Grafana
- GIT
- RHEL
- Ansible
- Bash
- Python
