My services

My skillset has been sharpened towards building, optimizing and testing R&D/preclinical pipelines, from target ID and early drug discovery to lead prioritization and characterization, in small/mid-size biotech companies. It includes experimental and computational workflow integration, streamlining and automation, managing potential risks and uncertainties in a fast-paced, agile biotech environment.

Beyond that, my expertise fits best to support your company’s R&D projects related to:
  • Design, development and optimization of complex cell-based and immunological assays.
  • Building data documentation & management systems, pragmatically evaluating pipeline and process automation options, and data processing, analyses & reporting workflows.
  • Basic data science and data exploration (multimodal data processing, analysis, plotting, interpretation, reporting), including standard omics workflows, complex data integration.
  • Scientific and technical writing: SOPs, work instructions, research manuscripts, reports, presentations.
My primary hands-on expertise in biotech covers the area of gene & cell therapy (GCT) and cancer immunotherapy, with the focus on TCR-T cell therapies against solid tumors (tumor target prioritization and validation, target-specific TCR generation and characterization).

My background
  • Translational research in academia (12+ years) and industry (4+ year) with broad scientific expertise (immunology, cancer biology, endocrinology). Strong publication record (h-index = 17).
  • Management of complex research projects from inception to completion in biotech industry (design, planning, documentation, monitoring, risk management, reporting).
  • Team coordination, leadership and mentoring in a matrix environment (up to 6 direct reports).
  • Development of innovation strategies in industry’s R&D settings; assay and technology development and optimization (cell-based and immunological assays).
  • Extensive experience with immunological methods (flow cytometry, ELISA), molecular biology and gene editing, cell and tissue culture, live-cell imaging.
  • Strong hands-on experience with in vivo experiments and animal models in immunology and inflammation, both in academic and industry settings (15+ years).
  • Hands-on experience in data processing, statistical data analysis, visualization and interpretation, documentation and reporting (Prism, R/Bioconductor).
  • Expertise in leveraging multi-omics data sets and generating data-driven insights for target identification and drug discovery projects.
  • Developing a company’s data management model and implementing a cloud-based data documentation platform across R&D department.
  • Cross-functional collaborations and stakeholder management across R&D and preclinical departments to support a CTA submission; worked with external service providers and CROs.
  • Solid understanding of regulatory requirements; contributed to preparation and review of regulatory documents for CTA submissions.

Projekthistorie

Team Lead TCR Discovery

T-knife GmbH, Berlin, Germany
Supervised a research team of scientists and technical assistants (up to 6 direct reports). Developed and managed multiple projects in TCR-T cell therapy, oncology, and multi-omics data processing and automation. Led development of high-throughput cell-based assays for assessing off-target toxicity of TCR-T cell products. Led bioinformatic activities to establish the first pipeline for identification and prioritization of tumor-associated targets. Co-developed the company data management model and implemented a cloud-based collaborative data documentation platform. Contributed to drafting and reviewing patents, writing reports, work instructions and SOPs. Participated in collaborations with external partners, KOLs, and service providers.

Senior Scientist TCR Discovery

T-knife GmbH, Berlin, Germany
Led generation of TCRs reactive against mutated KRAS oncogene using the MyT transgenic platform. Performed isolation and characterization of neoantigen-reactive TCRs using various functional cell-based assays. Optimized mouse immunization and target-specific T cell isolation protocols. Initiated and supported data processing and analysis automation activities in R&D Department. Communicated scientific results at internal and external meetings. Contributed to drafting and reviewing patents, writing reports, work instructions and SOPs.

Postdoctoral Fellow, Neuroinflammation & Mucosal Immunology Group (Guru Krishnamoorthy)

Max Planck Institute of Biochemistry, Munich, Germany
Developed a novel large-molecule drug modality (an Fc fusion protein) for therapeutic targeting of autoantigen-specific T cells and autoantibodies in mouse models of multiple sclerosis. Led a high-throughput phenotyping screen using a chemical drug library to identify targetable pathways for antigen-specific T-B cell interactions. Developed a novel ELISA protocol for highly sensitive detection of anti-MOG autoantibodies. Established internal workflows for analysis of proteomics and transcriptomics data. Managed data documentation, analysis, reporting, and drafted manuscripts. Co-supervised Master students and interns.

Postdoctoral Fellow, Immunology & Glycoanalysis Group (Marc Ehlers)

University of Luebeck, Germany
Led a project on antigen-specific IgG antibody glycosylation programming in germinal center B cells and plasma cells during immunization with various adjuvants. Established workflow for transcriptomics analysis of antigen-specific plasma cells. Co-supervised Master students and interns. Managed data documentation, analysis, reporting, and drafted manuscripts.

Graduate Researcher, Chronophysiology Group (Henrik Oster)

Max Planck Institute of Biophysical Chemistry, Goettingen, and University of Luebeck, Germany
Studied how circadian clocks in the brain and adrenal glands control hormonal rhythms and stress responses in mice. Contributed to immunological projects elucidating the role of the circadian clock in regulating T cell functions. Documented and analyzed data, presented findings at conferences. Supervised a Master student.

Research Assistant

Belarusian Research Center for Pediatric Oncology, Hematology & Immunology, Minsk region, Belarus
Established a protocol for detection of human regulatory T cells in leukemic patients after bone marrow transplantation. Managed data documentation and analysis, reported results at internal meetings.
