ABOUT ME
As a developer, I have mainly worked with Java, Spring Boot, Hibernate stack. I have also used Python for task automation. In addition to this, I have also learned Clojure. I’d been curious about LISP and after I went through Simply Scheme book, little research showed that I can write LISP for JVM and this led me to learn it. For practicing purposes I solved 2020’s Advent of Code puzzles with Clojure.
I have some experience in developing iOS apps, and I'm familiar with the .NET framework.
WORK EXPERIENCE
[ 10/2020 – Current ]
Freelancer
In the past few years I've built my career as a digital nomad and now I strongly prefer remote working options. I work mainly as a developer but I also became skilled in video editing and motion design, due to personal interest in those fields.
[ 06/2020 – 09/2020 ]
Developer - Vaiu
This was a three month project that consisted in allowing online payments. It was envisioned as a joint venture with the Post Office of Kosovo.
[ 05/2019 – 10/2019 ]
Java Software Developer - CallNow
CallNow runs a few online gaming applications and wanted to have a centralized user management system. I developed that system for them.
[ 07/2018 – 03/2019 ]
Java Software Developer - Vizah.ch
I worked for Vizah.ch for over eight months and during this time I have served two of its clients, namely Clariant and Armacom, both times as a team leader:
For Clariant, we worked on a crawling project that is built on top of Norconex (a crawling framework that we’d configure using xml files), and for Armacom we worked on a couple of Java EE based applications that Armacom has developed for Roche. The applications allow geographically distributed research organizations to share equipment that is otherwise too expensive for an organization to own.
[ 02/2018 – 07/2018 ]
Software Developer team leader - Timeframe
I led a team consisting of two junior developers and myself. The goal was to build a Java development team. In pursuit of that goal, we built a piece of software for a third party. In addition to my responsibilities in my team, I also helped another team inside Timeframe with a different project. It was named ActiBook, a web based application that would allow for offering and taking online courses. My involvement was mostly around advising the team and helping with client’s requests around application monitoring tools, dockerization, and researching technologies the client would ask the team to use (KeyCloak – an off the shelf user management system).
[ 09/2016 – 12/2017 ]
Java Software Developer - BPB Bank
In BPB I was part of a small team of developers, where I have worked on some user acceptance tests using Selenium, have set up the SCM Manager for managing code repositories, rewrote in Swing/Java a desktop app, have exposed a web service for the needs of an external partner and have built a tool that automates file exchange between the bank and Bankart, a card processor. In addition to that, I have also worked on a couple of small apps that served as monitoring tools for the IT team, and another app that interacts with the Asterisk server to facilitate client relation management.
[ 11/2014 – 12/2015 ]
Java Software Developer - EPAM Systems
I worked on a monitoring tool consisting of the backend that exposes a SOAP based web service and its GUI client built on top of Vaadin framework. The goal was to gather health check data on other mission critical applications running on a list of up to 80 servers. In retrospect, we were building web apps that would do exactly what Kubernetes does – help with discovery, maintain number of instances, alert about instance health status, and such.
[ 08/2011 – 12/2011 ]
Software Developer - AdaptivIT
I was involved in building a mobile application to facilitate the work of sales forces.
Specifically, it would allow sellers to take orders, keep stock, and communicate with a remote server to submit orders. This was built with ActionScript and the Flex framework.
[ 04/2011 – 04/2011 ]
Data Mining - Codex
I was in Codex for an internship. During this period, we were
extracting information from various German web sites. I built two Java classes. One to extract the html from the sites and the other to extract the information of interest based on regular expressions that I’d build in accordance with the information format in each site. After two weeks, they offered me a job but I had to turn it down due to working hours interfering with my intention to continue attending lectures in university.
