Über mich

I started out in environmental biology: in 1996 my GIS habitat study helped bring beavers back to Scotland. Then I taught myself HTML and never stopped. 25+ years self-employed. I see myself as a problem solver first: business goals before technology. Based in Tirol, happy to travel.

Projekthistorie

AI-Assisted Development: Workflow & Tooling

My own workflow for building and maintaining Magento projects with AI coding agents (Claude Code), used on live client work.
  • Containerised Magento development environment with a dev proxy
  • Reusable agent skills that start isolated git worktrees, each with its own full stack
  • Hooks that enforce those skills, so the rules are applied rather than hoped for
  • Commit and release skills that feed a changelog automatically
  • Deployer with GitLab pipelines, automated tests and production deployment
  • Built on the official Hyvä AI tooling, extended with my own rules
  • Five-phase playbook for AI-assisted legacy-code renovation: baseline, mechanical, semantic, structural, guardrails
  • Documented publicly on thecoder.io. Developer training and open-source scaffolding are in preparation
For clients: upgrades and fixes delivered faster, with tests and release steps built in.

AI & Automation Developer

Pixel Perfect

Internet und Informationstechnologie

< 10 Mitarbeiter

Automations and AI assistants for small and mid-size businesses.
  • Follow-up automation for my own sales pipeline: it watches the CRM (EspoCRM) for proposals that have gone quiet and creates tasks in ClickUp. Built with n8n, TypeScript and Postgres, safe to run twice, with a dry-run mode and loud failure handling
  • Multichannel AI customer-service assistant (pilot): Symfony 8 orchestrator on the OpenAI Responses API, web chat widget and WhatsApp, structured replies and human handover
  • Principle: the CRM stays the source of truth. Automation reads, decides and reports, and never fails silently

Open-Source Maintainer, Magento 2 / Hyvä

Pixel Perfect

Modules I publish and maintain on GitHub (pixelperfectat) and Packagist.
  • Hyvä GDPR cookie-consent module that works under strict Content Security Policy
  • Unpaid-order reminder: a core package plus add-ons, versioned and released through Composer
  • Discount-exclusion module
  • Blog series on thecoder.io documenting five modules and fixes, with the reasoning behind each
  • Contributions to Magento core and to modules maintained by others
  • Professional member of Mage-OS, the community fork of Magento Open Source
What it shows: code other developers can read, install and judge without asking me.

Senior Magento 2 / Hyvä Developer & Integration Lead

Kaufhaus der Berge

Konsumgüter und Handel

< 10 Mitarbeiter

Long-term technical partner of an Austrian multi-brand online retailer. I own the Magento 2 platform and the systems around it.
  • Multi-store Magento 2 with a Hyvä frontend, kept secure through regular patching and upgrades
  • ERP integration with MGM
  • Product data in Akeneo PIM: variant and swatch set-up, custom attribute design, output in Hyvä templates
  • Storefront joined to the existing CMS over GraphQL
  • ActiveCampaign audit: traced broken abandoned-cart tracking and faulty milestone flows to their causes, specified a multi-step cart-recovery series
  • Analytics with GA4 and PostHog, SEO audit and rewrites, B2B VAT/UID scoping, correction of net/gross price-rule thresholds
  • Documentation written so the in-house team can run what I build
Stack: Magento 2, Hyvä, PHP, Akeneo, MGM, GraphQL, ActiveCampaign, GA4, PostHog, Python

Senior Magento / Hyvä Developer

White-label for agencies (Diglin, Openstream, Studio Mitte, others)
Senior developer inside agency teams in Switzerland, Austria and Germany, usually under the agency’s name.
  • Hyvä frontends and Luma-to-Hyvä migrations
  • Performance and server work: Varnish cache rules and purging, MySQL indexer problems, TTFB
  • Third-party integrations such as transactional email (Brevo)
  • Security response: applying Magento security patches and emergency fixes for published exploits
  • SEO audits of product pages, URL rewrite and redirect tooling

Magento Developer: Integrations & Platform Performance

Vitafy GmbH

Konsumgüter und Handel

10-50 Mitarbeiter

Eleven years as the developer for the connections around a multi-brand Magento platform, inside the internal development team.
  • One integration layer for all brands, markets and currencies instead of one connection per brand, with exactly one owning system for each data field
  • B2C and B2B sub-shops by country and currency on one platform
  • Shop to inventory: orders out, stock and shipping status back
  • Shop to CRM: customer, order and campaign data, without the CRM becoming a second source for orders
  • Automated fulfilment for several brands from one warehouse
  • In 2022, took over an unmaintained Magento 1 connector when warehousing moved to a standard inventory platform, and rebuilt it around the company’s business rules. The warehouse project did not have to wait for a shop migration
  • Reporting and customer-support tools built together with the teams who use them daily
  • TTFB and platform performance work
Stack: Magento 1, PHP, API integrations, CRM and inventory systems, Shopify

Magento 1 to 2 Migration, Early Hyvä Adopter

Diglin GmbH / Brentford Computers

Konsumgüter und Handel

< 10 Mitarbeiter

Swiss computer retailer. From 2019 I worked on the Magento 1 shop with the Zürich agency Diglin. In November 2020 it went live on Magento 2 with Hyvä, my first Hyvä migration, when very few projects existed.
  • Re-established every Magento 1 module on Magento 2, then made each one work with Hyvä
  • No compatibility lists existed, so each module was tested and adapted individually
The module question that opens every Hyvä project today is the one I had to answer before anyone had published answers.

Magento Developer: Custom Voucher Product & Till Connection

VAMED Vitality World

50-250 Mitarbeiter

nline shop where the product is a voucher guests print at home, built with a partner agency. In service for more than five years.
  • Custom Magento 1 product type: bought like goods, never shipped
  • Purchase produces a print-ready PDF with a unique barcode. The value sits in the code, not the paper, so reprinting or forwarding adds no value
  • Connected to the till, so each voucher is redeemed exactly once, even a year later and by someone other than the buyer
  • Print immediately or send on by email

E-Commerce Developer: osCommerce to Magento 1

Early e-commerce
  • hot-zone.tv (2001 to 2007): osCommerce shop that became one of the most successful independent snowboard shops in Europe
  • Empl, Zillertal (2008): closed B2B ordering portal for fire services with registration and sign-in, my first Magento shop, built the year Magento 1.0 shipped
  • Earlier: first online shop in 1998, with a filterable catalogue, cart and GPG-encrypted orders

Systems Integration Developer

TTR World Snowboard Tour
he world ranking of a global snowboard tour lived in a membership system built for sport. The website ran on TYPO3. I wrote the code between them.
  • Carried ranking data into TYPO3, filterable by event, athlete, star level and discipline
  • Followed the tour’s format change from nine events with a final to a tiered points system
  • Built in 2003, with no REST APIs or integration platforms to lean on
The same work I do today: two systems that know nothing about each other, and code that makes their data usable.
