As part of the project, the service provider supports customer with product definition/development of Utilities requirements to the core of Contract Accounting (FI-CA) as part of S/4HANA cloud edition. The main responsibility for the development project is with customer. The service provider provides program development services and product definition services. These services are coordinated through customer.Development will follow the regular development cycles for S/4HANA Cloud and OnPremise. This is, as per current development setup, quarterly releases for S/4HANA Cloud and annual releases for S/4HANA OnPremise.
High level scope descriptions will be created and described through EPICS in the planning phase for each development cycle. It will be shared in the commonly used project document tool JIRA.
In the beginning of the project, the service provider resource needs to take over leading product definition tasks. The project scope needs to be defined together with product management from utilities and contract accounting.
High communication skills needed in a heterogenous company environment. The resource of the service provider needs not only development skills but detailed understanding of the Utilities processes in the subledger area of FI-CA and understanding of general ledger processes in Financials.
Based on the defined scope, the service provider resource together with SAP product owners will create software requirement specifications (SRS). Therefor know-how needed how to define standard software and prioritize requirements.
Later, in the development phase it is the service providers responsibility to attend review meetings and contribute to the review, as required for the later development process.
As part of the development support, the service provider resources may contribute to a specific development topic or take over a complete unique development backlog item. In the latter case, service provider resource is expected to create design documents (SDD) and lead the corresponding review to successful acceptance of the design document, before actual development is started. SRS and SDD creation shall follow the project guidelines and are not part of the requirement.
The development process includes corresponding quality activities as per project standards S/4HANA Cloud KPIs. This involves required support for test automation as well as manual tests. In addition, service provider resource is required to prepare corresponding code reviews for development backlog items taken over. Code reviews will be conducted together with experts from the standard development team.
Documentation of developed requirements is supported through SAP user assistance resources and product owners. Service provider resource is asked to contribute in the process of creating raw documentation of developed features. This includes a technical documentation of all code and at the end handover to SAP developer through knowledge transfer sessions.
