- Ensure security, reliability and availability of Department of Safeguards data repositories mainly Livelink and SQL Server
- Ensure that all data access from diverse sources follows relevant information security policies, guidelines and practices, and that access rights are strictly enforced.
- Provide assistance to software developers by creating new and/or modifying existing databases, including refreshing the test environment with data from production, and deploying new databases and modified database structures to production.
- Schedule backups and monitor backup status, including maintaining and modifying when necessary the backup and restore procedures, and performing database recovery when required or requested.
- Monitor the performance of the databases and apply corrective tuning measures as required.
- Review data volume estimates to ensure sufficient capacity, manage database files, monitor storage space on Servers, and take corrective action when required
- Research, test and install new releases of software, and apply hardware and software upgrades and patches, as appropriate
- Participate in data integration projects by providing database support
- Analyze, configure, troubleshoot and monitor different data feeds like DTS packages, SSIS packages and SQL Agent jobs
- Create scripts to automate routine tasks
- Perform data comparison using different data analysis tools and report on results
- Ensure that all tasks assigned are carried out in accordance with established quality procedures and guidelines to achieve the agreed goals
