a Solution Architect IT Infrastructure

Description:
• Under supervision of the Service Design Manager the Solution Architect IT Infrastructure is responsible for the technological landscape within the IT Infrastructure. Requests are provided from the Innovation Manager, from Relationship Managers, responsible professional units and roles within the IT Infrastructure team or the Enterprise Architecture team and the Solution Architect IT Infrastructure is responsible to produce quality, secure and resilient designs for new or significantly changed services. By a structured approach, the Solution Architect IT Infrastructure ensures that not only functional but also non-functional requirements, including availability, scalability and performance targets, are met.

Key Responsibilities, Tasks and Activities:
1 Infrastructure architecture design and management
• Responsible to define and manage the technological landscape for IT Infrastructure services, taking into account the service strategy and newly available technologies. Ensures close alignment with the Innovation Manager.
• Constantly align with the Enterprise Architect and ensure close cooperation within the Enterprise Architecture Board. Ensure adherence to IT Architecture guidelines within the IT Infrastructure teams.
2 Service Design
• Responsible to provide advice and guidance to IT management on the design and planning of IT infrastructure services.
• Responsible to ensure the design of appropriate IT infrastructure services, taking account of current as well as anticipated functional and performance requirements, agreed service levels, processes, existing systems and services, and any safety-related aspects.
• Responsible to assess changes for their conformance to design principles, by attending Change Advisory Board (CAB) meetings when necessary.
• Responsible for participating in the decision making process and execution regarding IT infrastructure architecture/technology direction.
3 Internal Alignments
• Receives assignments for the design of new or significantly changed services Solution Architect IT Infrastructure from IT management or from responsible professional units and roles within the IT Infrastructure Team.
• Responsible to ensure close cooperation with the Enterprise Architect of the IT Management Services team on the one hand and with Relationship Managers to balance requirements and for scope alignment on the other.
• Responsible to ensure the involvement and participation of Technology and Process Teams when designing new or significantly changed services.
• Delivers and hands over detailed target specification and if required the Technical Blue Print to Technology Teams as they are responsible for project execution.
4 Process Design and Quality Assurance
• Responsible for producing a process map of all processes and their high-level interfaces to ensure integration, consistency and continuity across all processes.
• Responsible to ensure that the design of all processes, roles, responsibilities and documentation within the IT Infrastructure are regularly reviewed and audited for efficiency, effectiveness and compliance.
• Responsible to produce and keep up-to-date all IT design, architectural, policy and specification documentation.

Education and Experience:
• Degree in computer science or equivalent field experience
• Broad cross-functional infrastructure service knowledge, including knowledge within workplace, system and data technology (collaboration and communication services, Lotus Notes, Windows 7 Clients, VMware, server operating systems: Windows and Linux, Novell IDM)
• 6+ years proven end-to-end infrastructure design experience
• ITIL certification and ITIL knowledge beyond theory
• Solid architectural background and experienced working in a matrix organisation

Skills and Knowledge:
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects with competing demands for resources
• Strong planning and project management skills
• Good communication skills
• Precise, systematic and structured way of working
• Proven ability to build and manage relationships in a matrix organization
• Confidence in understanding technical dependencies
• Team-player
• Language: German + English

Time Line:
• Start Date: ASAP
• Duration: End of 2012
• Workload: 50% - 100%, mostly On-site
• Location: Salzburg
