Overview:

Our Legal, Compliance and Government & Regulatory Affairs department manages the legal services, reviews trade reports, educates to avoid unintentional rule breaches or conflicts of interest, and advices on regulatory and political challenges. We protect the integrity and reputation of the bank by managing legal risk to make transactions viable and safe. We advise on ethical conduct and identify regulatory solutions. We promote and foster lawful and ethical business through a true partnership with the business. Deutsche Bank is a multi service investment firm. It supplies many different products and services to a large variety of customers and counterparties around the world. In such a complex business, you'll join a team that works with management on coordination between business lines to mishaps. It's our job to make sure the Bank has the most up to date information on regulatory and political challenges and continues to be viewed as a trusted voice and though leader.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identifying, analysing and managing Deutsche Bank's exposure to legal, regulatory and reputational risks, and supervising the businesses' adherence to DB's policies and procedures;
  • Participating in Deutsche Bank's business selection and conflict management discussions;
  • Providing multi-jurisdictional legal and regulatory advice to the businesses;
  • Liaising with the businesses and the legal and compliance departments of Deutsche Bank in other jurisdictions, other infrastructure functions and external legal counsel. In particular, working in partnership with Deutsche Bank's other internal control functions - Compliance, Group Embargo, Anti-Money Laundering and Anti-Bribery and Corruption;
  • Assisting in the drafting and updating of Deutsche Bank's templates, policies and procedures;
  • Participating in practice group calls involving members of the legal department of Deutsche Bank in other jurisdictions;
  • Participating in industry body initiatives (eg, Association for Financial Markets in Europe ("AFME") consultations), including any such initiatives in relation to changes in the laws and regulations applicable to the businesses;
  • Assisting with team administration and know-how management; and
  • Helping support internal change projects, where there is new regulation to be considered and/or implemented.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • A depth of knowledge of the law applied to financial markets
  • A good knowledge of EU bank and financial services regulation.
  • Knowledge of ISDA/Global Master Repurchase Agreement (GMRA) and/or Global Master Securities Lending Agreement (GMSLA) documentation, bond documentation and loan documentation
  • The ability to work independently and as part of an inter-disciplinary team
  • Good commercial sense
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • A practical approach to problem solving
  • A willingness to learn and to be versatile
  • Experience of working as a lawyer both in private practice and in an international bank
