IT Software Engineer (Java SE)

Our client, a leading Swiss bank, is looking for an IT Software Engineer (Java SE) who is an enthusiastic technology professional willing to join their development team within Market Risk IT in Zürich, which provides the systems needed by the Investment Bank, Wealth Management and Firmwide Risk to manage Market Risk exposure of its global Front Office functions.
Your responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain Market Risk Analytics Platform
- Manage adaptation of Big Data and Cloud solutions
- Design, develop, test and support solutions developed for Risk Methodology, Reporting and Risk Control
- Facilitate smooth delivery of the projects, taking complete ownership of the delivery of the various software solutions/components worked upon by the team
- Demonstrate superior collaboration skills in working closely with various stakeholders as well as other development, testing and implementation teams to roll-out important regulatory and business improvement programs
Your profile:
You should have:
- At a minimum, have a Degree level qualification.
- 5+ years of experience; major part of which is in hands-on development using core Java, including Java 1.8 and Spring
- Experience in Java Server Side Application development and memory management
- Multi-threading, Collections API with an emphasis on quality and performance
- SDLC tools with GIT, SVN, Gradle, Teamcity
- Knowledge of R programming and data science experience would be advantageous
- Distributed and parallel computing technologies such as Apache Spark, In Memory Data Grid or Grid computing
- Cloud experience with Azure Cloud and Python is also beneficial
- Have excellent understanding of Object Oriented Design, database design and development.
- Knowledge of JDBC and Oracle PL/SQL
- Strong Analytical skills
- Strong desire to learn new technologies
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and teamwork skills (working in a cross region global IT team)
- Good knowledge of Financial Services domain - ideally Market Risk
- A "can do" attitude able to work on multiple projects, quality-oriented, as well as willing to learn and take on new challenges
