Splunk engineer

Working as L1 support for Client (DCEH) project to support and monitor client network devices by
using HP NNM application and SolarWinds tool.

Responsibilities:
* Monitoring, Auditing, Reporting and Maintaining Solarwinds application.
* Maintaining Reports like Incident Management, Problem Management and Change Management etc.
* Responsible for assigning incidents within a group.
* Responsible for communicating with the process manager. Directly works with Support to
ensure proper recording of incidents
* Monitoring different type devices Router (Cisco), Switches (Huawei, H3C, HP, Cisco, Voltek,
CTS), Firewalls, Ericsson device, Load balancer and its services.
* SQL Server Performance Tuning.
* MS SQL performance reports.
* Installing, Configuring and troubleshooting the Solar Winds Network Performance (Primary
polling engine and Additional polling engines).s
* Configuring advanced alert.
* Confirming Outage of Host and domain by using basic commands(ping, pathping, tracert,
nslookup)
* Sending different type's reports like Last Boot, Uptime, SNMP info, Battery status,
Availability, Bandwidth, Utilization, Daily health, Staging, Historical Interface Errors,
Historical Rx power or Fiber power loss (dBM), Segment wise choking.
* Troubleshooting SolarWinds issues.
* Manage SMTP server credentials to transfer mail alerts and page alerts.
* Creating SMS alerts and mail alerts.
* Installation Check_MK.
* Monitoring Custom Pollers by assigning OID like Linux Load average, Active subbase, Battery
status, Optical power, etc.
* Creating Custom SQL reports Scripts for easy monitoring.
* Creating Network and infrastructure dashboards.
* Adding routes in Windows, Linux and UNIX servers.
* Creating Reports of network health status on daily basis
* Creating Id for NMS web users and providing standard permissions.
* Doing backup of NMS DB and restoring it.
* Creating users for NMS servers, and providing permissions.
* Adding pollers using OID like Active Subscribers, CPU_Load, and Memory.
* Adding the nodes through SNMP, ICMP, and WMI.
* Alerts integration with OTRS tool.
* Providing Backup files of switch configuration start up and running through NCM Tool.
* Creating Scheduling jobs on NMS database and switch configuration.
* Installing and configuring SNMP service in servers.
* Co-ordination with solarwinds Customer support team to resolve solarwinds issues by raising
ticket in solarwinds customer portal.


Solarwinds Activities:
* Migration of Database server


* Migration of NPM, SAM, NCM Application servers.
* Adding additional polling engine servers.
* Upgrading application.

Check_MK Monitoring Tool version 1.2.8p14 and Linux Centos 6.8:

* Installing and configuring Check_MK.
* OMD Site creation
* OMD configuration
* Clustering between Masterand Slave check_mk.
* Check MK Upgradation
* Adding Hosts through ICMP, SNMP &TCP and discovering it.
* Creating Rule Ex:To exclude the particular interface while discovering.
* Preparing Dashboards.
* Tagging the hosts or folders for easily extracting reports.
