Within a small team, we built multiple Kubernetes clusters and automated the rollout using Ansible. We deployed various services on the clusters, including a Gitlab runner, Mattermost, and Bitwarden.
Since we were in security-critical, air-gapped environments, there were several issues that needed to be addressed. So that services deployed using Helm Charts used our Artifactory and that we had comprehensive monitoring & alerting through Grafana. We created our own certificates through StepCA & Traefik and configured a backup using velero and MinIO.
Besides the technical side, it was also about getting other teams to use our cluster and to demonstrate the advantages of the cluster for future developments.
